Gertude Jekyll Garden at Lindisfarne - This beautiful small garden was designed in by Gertrude Jekyll whilst visiting Lindisfarne Castle with her famous architect friend Edwin Lutyen. Lutyen was working for Edward Hudson who was converting Lindisfarne Castle to a holiday home. It was created on the site of a vegetable patch as a small pleasure garden in 1911 and was typical of Jekyll's colourful plantings.
Although it had fallen into neglect Jekyll's original planting scheme was restored by the Trust in 2003 and can now be visited.
