York Gate Garden in Leeds
York Gate - one of Perennial's gardens
York Gate is a masterpiece. A Grade II national heritage garden inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement. Situated in the country village of Adel, Leeds, the garden was first created by the Spencer family in 1951 and entrusted to the charity Perennial in 1994 so that the garden could live on and continue to be enjoyed by the public.
A charming day out can be enjoyed here. A unique collection of garden rooms sit exquisitely within the one-acre site that enjoys the ancient Adel woods as its backdrop. It also features a café, sun terrace, heritage centre, gift shop, plant nursery and wildflower meadow.
It's no wonder this garden has been regarded as one of the best small gardens in the world.
