Batsford Arboretum, near Moreton on Marsh

Batsford Arboretum is set in 56 acres of lovely Cotswold Countryside and contains over 1500 trees with species from all over the world.

The amazing Batsford Arboretum is situated just a mile from the picturesque town of Moreton on the Marsh and has all year interest starting with Snowdrops, Daffodils, Magnolias, Blossom, Wild Flowers and Autumn colours.

The Arboretum was developed by Algernon Bertram Freeman-Mitford from 1886, grandfather of the Mitford Sisters. He had travelled widely in Asia and brought a Chinese and Japanese influence to the garden which is still apparent today.

It is one of our favourite places to visit as it has beautiful colours throughout the year. There are great displays of snowdrops in February, followed by daffodils and then marvellous blossoms from the Cherries and Magnolias in spring.

In summer see the bamboo groves, fine bronze statues and waterside plantings.
It all comes together in Autumn with glorious Autumn tints and great colours to take your breath away.

Batsford Arboretum includes one of the largest Pulham Rock Gardens in Britain. It is 600 metres long and borders a stream which tumbles down from the top of the garden, over small waterfalls and pools into a large lake at the bottom, just amazing!
