Penjerrick Gardens, near Falmouth
One of the Lost Gardens of Cornwall set in a peacful 15 acre oasis. The Garden is semil wild with only low maintenance and has an atmosphere all of its own.
Penjerrick Garden is a secret garden lost in time and is rather like a sub-tropical jungle.
Itwas created 200 years ago by Robert Were Fox F.R.S. and his children, Anna Maria, Barclay and Caroline (R.W. Fox's brother, Charles was responsible for the Garden at Trebah and his brother Alfred for the garden at Glendurgan ).
This peaceful 15 acre, sub-tropical, spring-flowering garden has and a considerable historical and botanical interest. Rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas, magnificent trees all grow in this sub tropical valley. Ponds , bamboos, gunnera, immense tree ferns abound.
Wildlife and birds take advantage of the semi wild garden.
This 'secret' garden (now owned by Rachel Morin) is at its best in April and May.
