Cotehele House Gardens, near Plymouth

Cothele Manor House and garden are a real treat and on the edge of Dartmoor

Cotehele House and Gardens near Plymouth - The manor house was built by the Edgcumbe family in the late 15th century and stands at the head of a valley garden dropping steeply to the River Tamar. Exotic and tender plants thrive in the mild climate and there is something to see throughout the year, with rhododendrons and azaleas a highlight.
To one side of the house is the Medieval stewpond and 15th century dovecote. More formal gardens surround the house, including terraces, whilst in the springtime the meadow beyond the north-west tower is carpeted with daffodils.
At Christmas time the main hall is decorated with magnificent garlands of dried flowers taken from the gardens in the summer.
A must visit property so visit when the house is open.
There are estate walks near the property down to the River Tamar where there is plenty more to see including the Old Quay and Discovery Centre. There are also boat trips on the river.
This is a lovely property and well worth seeing - a great day out for all the family.
