Greba Garden in Grey Abbey Village, County Down
As seen on BBC Northern Ireland’s Greatest Gardens, this three acre garden is in a reclaimed quarry with natural woodland, ponds and small bridges. Dairmuid Gavin described the garden as ‘enchanting’ and Helen Dillon described it as ‘absolutely heavenly!’
Greba Gardens - Richard and Beverley Brittain transformed this three acre, disused quarry from an overgrown landscape, riddled with machinery and rubble into an enchanting and private retreat.
Today, visitors can wander through woodland seated areas, moss lined pathways and vibrant garden features each offering tranquil spaces to pause and embrace the soothing sounds of water features and birdsong. With an astonishing variety of plants, trees and flowers the gardens serve as a thriving sanctuary for local wildlife including otters, red squirrels, pine martens and newts.
Thoughtful, natural landscaping including beautifully integrated ponds, compliments the surroundings perfectly while secluded seating areas provide the ideal spots to soak in this evolving horticultural masterpiece!
