Monk's House and Garden, National Trust, Virginia Woolf
This was the delightful Cottage, home of Leonard and Virginia Woolf, with all its Bllomsbury Treasures plus garden in the Arts and Crafts Style. The charming House is also open.
The wonderful Monks House (National Trust) was the retreat of the famous novelist and member of the Bloomsbury Group. The house feels as if Virginia and Leonard have just left it for a walk. It was here that she wrote some of her best novels.
The gardens here are in the Arts and Crafts Style with enclosed spaces. They are not overly manacured and reflect the activities such as bowls which would have taken place.
The Writing Lodge is situated in a quiet spot in the garden.
We also feature the nearby Charleston House home of the Bloomsbury Group where Virginia spent much time.
