Abbotsford House and Gardens

Abbotsford House and Gardens - Sir Walter Scott's home - a truly splendid place set in grounds which border down to the River Tweed famous for its trout fishing. Amazing House open.

We were not disappointed the last time we visited Abbotsford House and Gardens. It was once the home of Sir Walter Scott one of the greatest literary figures the world has ever known. His books include Ivanhoe and Lady of the Lake.
The large grounds border down to the River Tweed where you can sit and admire not only the river but the views of the House.Set on a beautiful estate bordered by the river Tweed, Sir Walter Scott built three Walled Regency Gardens around the house he called his 'conundrum castle'.

Explore colourful and fragrant gardens with wonderful views of the house. Discover Sir Walter Scott's outdoor 'sculpture garden' in the walls of the South Court and spot the herbs, fruit and vegetables growing in the kitchen garden.

If you have time take a walk in the adjoining woodland.
