Discover the beautiful Chirk Castle and Garden - covers 5 acres with roses (modern and old fashioned), a woodland garden with rhododendrons and azaleas. The herbaceous borders are protected from the wind and provide a good display in the summer. The fine rockery has many alpine plants.
Climbers cover the walls and give good colour as do other plantings.
The garden is well known for its yew topiary which can be seen opposite. There is also a Lime Avenue.
Chirk Castle dates from the late 13th century and was one of several medieval Marcher fortresses along the Welsh-English border, built to keep the Welsh under English rule.
It is now open to the public and has fine collections of art and other historic items.
There are good views of surrounding counties from the grounds of the castle.
