The formal Edwardian Arts and Crafts influenced Gardens, at the back of the house feature terraces, pool and Orangery which were designed by Sir Edward Lutyens and with plants recommended by Gertrude Jekyll.
Colourful borders surround the main terrace with views over the Somerset countryside. These gardens were reunited in 1997 with Hestercombe's secret landscape garden for the first time in 125 years after extensive restoration.
The idyllic 40 acre Georgian pleasure grounds have been lovingly and meticulously restored and provide delightful woodland walks, lakeside views, classical temples and the Great Cascade.
In 2014 Hestercombe House finally opened to the public. With a contemporary art Gallery, a traditional tearoom and second hand bookshop there is even more for visitors to explore.
