Crook Hall Gardens, Durham
Recently restored and opened by the NationalTrust, these gardens near Durham are a great visit
Crook Hall Gardens - A series of interlinking gardens, each with its own style and character, set against the backdrop of a Grade 1 listed medieval hall.
Formal areas with neat lines and topiary hedges border traditional English cottage gardens, boasting a colourful medley of roses, wisteria, perennials, trees and shrubs.
Visitors can discover a maze, a secret walled garden, an orchard, a wildlife-rich moat pool and tranquil seating areas.
The gardens offer views of Durham city and cathedral.
