Aberdour Castle and Gardens
Aberdour Castle is one of the oldest in Scotland with the original house being built in the 12th Century.
Aberdour Castle has a garden which is very unusual. This is not a garden for the enthusiastic plant lover but for the Garden historian it will be fascinating.
The gardens were added in the 16th century and comprise of massive terraces ( restored over recent years ) which once were planted with borders and pools. There were plans for a restoration of the original design but these are currently on hold. The terraces overlooked an orchard from the late 1600s which has now been replanted.
There is a pretty walled garden at the other end of the Castle.
