Prospect Cottage Garden Dungeness - Derek Jarman

Prospect Cottage is set on the Dungeness Shingle Beach one of the largest expanses of its kind in Europe. It is one of many old Buildings which are permanent homes, and also a growing number of holiday cottages. The shingle is home to many wildflowers and the displays especially in June will take your breath away.
The situation is not as peaceful as one may expect as it fairly close to a busy road leading to Dungeness Lighthouse and Power Station. The cottage is dresed in black shiplap wood with bright yellow painted windows.
It is surrounded by an amazing but small coastal garden with a wide range of colourful plants suited to the environment.
This place is famous as it was home to the late Derek Jarman, an artist, filmmaker, gay rights activist and gardener.

How to find Derek Jarmans Prospect Cottage and Garden Dungeness and get there.
By car, or by Dymchurch and Hythe Railway, Bicycle.
Prospect cottage is situated on the right hand side of the road leading to Dungeness Power Station.  There is a carpark at the lighthouse and station,you should then walk back along the road to the cottage - about a 20 to 25 minute walk.
Can I go round the garden at Prospect Cottage
We were able to walk around at the time of our visit and generally people are free to wander.
