ABOUT NATURALISTIC and PRAIRIE GARDENS, and THE NEW PERRENIAL MOVEMENT
William Robinson (1838 to 1895) is considered the father of the Naturalistic style of garden and many designers followed this style. A number of designers continued to develop this concept in Holland and elswhere (New perennial Movement) but it was not until the 1990s that this was taken to a new level by Piet Ouldolf and others. With a contemporary feel these gardens are planted in swathes and combinations of colourful perrenials and grasses in harmony with nature and wildlife.
