Mount Stuart’s gardens on the Isle of Bute is a great place to visit, amongst Europe’s finest, date back to circa 1717 when the 2nd Earl of Bute started to lay out substantial grounds. There are three hundred acres of wilderness, woodland, gardens and designed landscape that can be enjoyed today.
The 20th century has seen further developments, including the replanting of the Rock Garden and the remodelling of the Victorian Kitchen Garden by Rosemary Verey in the 1990s.
The house is open to the public and has some stunning rooms including a magnificent marble hall. This is a great garden and house especially in early summer and not to be missed - Editor.
